TE350: BICSI ITS Technician

TE350: BICSI ITS Technician
Join the elite group of installers who possess this high level of skills training by taking your installation performance to the next level through the study of specialized systems and advanced copper and optical fiber structured cabling systems. TE350 is an intensive 5-day course that provides the necessary skill set of a structured cabling systems technician. An advanced study of copper splicing, testing, and troubleshooting will open this course. A significant amount of course time will then be spent on the splicing, testing and troubleshooting of optical fiber cable. The third major topic covered in this class will be field coordination, including site surveys, blueprint reading, network infrastructure and project management. This course will also cover some special topics within ITS cabling installation.

Who Should Attend
Highly experienced ITS cabling installers; individuals who hold the BICSI ITS 2, or both the ITS Installer 2 Copper and ITS Installer 2 Optical Fiber credentials who wish to expand their knowledge of the structured cabling industry, learn new skills and continue to advance professionally.   Individuals preparing to sit for the ITS Technician exam must possess at least three years of current and verifiable ITS industry installation experience and hold the ITS Installer 2 (see note below) or both ITS Installer 2, Copper and ITS Installer 2, Optical Fiber credentials.  An individual who meets all of the requirements for Technician but does not hold both the ITS Installer, Copper and Optical Fiber credentials, may apply for a one-time waiver and take the Technician exam by submitting a completed exam application and a current résumé listing the experience, education and other certifications (if applicable) to the Credentialing Manager.  If approved and they do not pass this attempt, then they will be required to have both the Copper and Optical Fiber credentials before they can retake the Technician exam.

(Note): Installer, Level 2 credential holders that passed the exam before January 2009 and are in good standing only need to show proof of experience to be eligible to sit for the exam.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Participants sitting for the ITS Technician exam must be able to distinguish between different colors and possess manual dexterity to complete fine motor tasks. It is recommended to attend a TE350: BICSI ITS Technician Training course as well as independent or group study of BICSI’s Information Transport Systems Installation Methods Manual, (ITSIMM). Statistically, 90% of those that have taken a Technician course in the prior program have passed the Technician exam.
